The holidays are coming up and that means (if you’re anything like me) you’re probably scrambling for gifts. If you’re looking for Christmas gifts from Poland, let this guide inspire you to discover some new Polish brands or traditional Polish products to gift your family and friends… or maybe to write down on your own list to Santa!
Stocking Stuffers and Mikołajki (St. Nicholas Day) Gifts
Whether you need a Secret Santa gift for a work colleague or a small gift for 6 December’s Mikołajki (St. Nicholas Day), this category tends to be the hardest to pin down. You’ll want something that will bring joy but won’t necessarily break the bank.
I’m a huge fan of giving books as gifts, especially to read during that cozy long lazy period between Christmas and New Year’s Day. You’ll already be losing track of time — you might as well do it with a good book in hand. Empik has a fantastic selection of the latest titles. If you can’t read in Polish, no worries, they have you covered in English too. If you buy online, you can save a bit on your purchase and access a larger selection than in-store. For the tea lovers (I am one of you!), I highly recommend the loose-leaf teas from Five O’Clock. Their teas are incredibly aromatic and the flavors are unique. When it comes to men’s clothing, there are a number of Polish brands that specialize in just that. A few that have a great selection are Bytom, Recman, and Vistula. They are all quite popular and shops are located throughout Poland. Looking to get a special man in your life a leather briefcase or wallet? I can recommend Ochnik for not only their quality, but also their prices. I think this is a slept-on brand, but they really do a great job with their leather goods (not just for men!).
Polish Beauty Products
This category I can go on and on about! There are so many Polish brands that make fantastic beauty products. Anything you’re looking for, you’ll find a Polish brand that does it. A few of my favorites are Resibo for their facial products and shampoos, Yope for their soaps and hand creams, as well as Bielenda and BasicLab for their active ingredients (like retinoids and ceramides).
For the Home

Traditional Polish Gifts
Ok, so hopefully you’ve read this far and have determined that there are many fantastic Polish brands and options for gifts. But what if you’re looking for gifts that are more traditionally associated with a trip to Poland? Below are some ideas whether you’re buying for someone back home… or yourself!
Poland is the third largest exporter of Christmas baubles in the world. The country’s rich and long tradition of glassworking makes baubles a perfect Christmas souvenir. There are many Polish brands that make and sell ornaments, but one of the most famous is Vitbis. If you happen to be visiting Warsaw, there is a shop right in the city center called Bombkarnia that sells baubles and other decorations year-round. Just remember to pack your keepsakes really well, as the delicate glass may not make the trip home with you if they get jostled about too much.
A common and popular gift idea is Polish pottery. By far the most popular and internationally well-known brand is Bolesławiec. These colorful pieces are collectors items and new patterns are always coming out, so if you have a friend or family member who likes the look of Polish pottery, this may be the perfect gift.
Poland is also known for its amber production and it certainly has its fans. A while back I wrote about amber’s history and mythology, so I recommend that read if you are interested in knowing what makes this stone (which is actually a resin) so special. If you’re in Gdańsk, you’ll see plenty of shops devoted to amber, but also keep a look out for it in other large Polish cities; most Polish jewelers will carry at least some amber pieces. You can also order online through stores like Ambertic or at local jewelers like W. Kruk.
